Breathwork Session

Join Queer Divorce Club’s facilitator, Candace, for exclusive, trauma-informed breathwork sessions designed specifically for our queer divorce community. These guided sessions are an incredible opportunity to reduce stress, connect with your emotions, and release what no longer serves you in a safe and supportive space.

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a somatic (body-based) practice that uses intentional breath patterns to help you process your experiences and emotions through the body. While we typically breathe without much thought, intentional breathwork can be profoundly transformational. This practice combines active meditation with techniques like visualization, mindfulness, body scans, and purposeful breath holds.

By exploring intentional breathing, you deepen your connection to your body and its cues—allowing you to trust yourself more, release stuck emotions, and feel empowered in your healing journey.

Benefits of Breathwork

Breathwork offers a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Stress reduction & anxiety relief

  • Connecting with your emotions through your body

  • Increased energy & mental clarity

  • Deepening your relationship to your body

  • Releasing trauma stored in your system

  • Creating a more adaptable and resilient nervous system

What to Expect in a Session

Our virtual breathwork sessions are thoughtfully designed to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can fully embrace the practice. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Pre-Session Email
Before your session, you’ll receive an email with guidance on how to set up for a virtual breathwork practice.

  2. Creating Your Space
Find a quiet, undisturbed area in your home to settle in for the session—similar to preparing for a yoga or meditation class.

  3. Session Flow

    • We’ll begin with a brief chat about what to expect and address any questions.

    • Once you’re comfortable, you’ll be guided to notice your breath and ease into the practice.

    • Candace will demonstrate and cue a series of breathwork patterns tailored to the session’s focus. Some sequences may feel relaxing and gentle, while others may be more active.

    • As always, this is your practice—you are encouraged to listen to your body and honor what feels right for you.

  4. Integration and Reflection

    • After the active breathwork session, we’ll take time to rest, ground, and ease back into the space.

    • We’ll close with an opportunity to reflect and share insights from your experience.

Preparation Tips

  • Avoid eating large meals or drinking heavily at least 3 hours before the session.

  • Suggested supplies: a blanket, bolster or pillow, water bottle, tissues, a pen, and a journal for reflection.
